Cruising Guides

A support skeleton, not a route on a chart

Legs sized to the vessel and season, fuel and provisioning points that actually hold stock, permits secured before the anchor drops, and a desk tracking the plan as weather rewrites it.

In short

Your captain owns the navigation. We own everything the route consumes.

  • We do not sell paper routes for waters we cannot support.
  • Komodo detail runs through the shore desk; the far east through Raja Ampat support.
  • What this desk adds is the discipline connecting those legs into one supported season.

The method

How the desk plans a season

The same four moves whether the programme is a week around Bali or a season across the archipelago.

  1. 01

    The brief

Vessel, dates, guests, and what the trip must deliver — diving, culture, remoteness, or simply rest.

  2. 02

    The skeleton

Legs and fallback anchorages matched to the monsoon calendar, with fuel, water and provisioning points confirmed rather than assumed.

  3. 03

    The paper layer

Clearance position, park fees and any special-area permissions sequenced through the clearance desk and the park fee file.

  4. 04

    The support plan

Which legs are provisioned from Bali, where top-ups stage, and who answers when the plan changes mid-passage.

A sample shakedown

Bali waters in four days

Many owners run a local shakedown before committing to the eastern corridor. This is the shape of one.

  1. Day 1

    Serangan to Nusa Penida

Morning departure across the Badung Strait, roughly fifteen miles. Position for snorkelling or freediving at Manta Point — a designated protected area with strict interaction rules — then lunch at anchor under the limestone cliffs and an afternoon on the water near Crystal Bay.

  2. Day 2

    Penida's west coast

Along the western cliffs, with guided snorkelling at reef sites chosen for minimal current. Ashore, Kelingking, Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong — timed early or late to avoid the coach traffic. Overnight in a sheltered bay on the north shore.

  3. Day 3

    Lembongan & Ceningan

A short cruise north to the two smaller islands. Mangrove tour by traditional boat, paddleboarding and kayaking in the calm bays, and Devil's Tear on the southwest coast when the swell is running. Overnight on a sheltered mooring.

  4. Day 4

Return to Bali, or keep going

Breakfast under way, a final swim stop, and back alongside at Serangan by early afternoon. From here the itinerary either ends with transfers, or extends east — the Gilis and Lombok, or Komodo, which changes vessel and crew and is planned as its own programme.

Three to five days is the usual local format. The eastern corridor is a separate conversation with different vessels, different permits and a different weather calendar.

Have the season built around the boat

Send the vessel, the dates and what the trip must deliver. The desk returns a skeleton with the legs, the fallbacks, the paper layer and the support plan already attached.
