An air bridge, not a single flight

Almost never, and it is better to know before you plan around it. Very few vessels in the Komodo charter fleet carry a certified helideck, and no responsible operator will land on an uncertified one. The standard arrangement is a landing at Labuan Bajo or an approved shore point, with the yacht's tender completing the trip.

Door to deck, Bali to a Komodo anchorage typically takes four to five hours by air including transfers and the tender leg. The same trip by sea is a two-day passage. For a guest joining a seven-night charter three days late, the bridge is the difference between salvaging most of the trip and missing half of it.

Plan on soft bags and roughly 10–15 kg per passenger on rotary segments, subject to the aircraft and passenger load that day. Dive gear, camera cases and anything heavy should travel on the fixed-wing leg or go ahead by road and sea freight — which we arrange routinely, and it usually reaches the yacht before you do.

Helicopter operations here are flown visually in daylight, so weather and light rule everything. We build schedule buffer into every routing, and each confirmation names its backup — usually fixed-wing plus speedboat, still reaching the yacht the same day. If an operator cancels for weather, their refund terms apply as written and we pass them through transparently.

Seven to fourteen days is comfortable in high season, June through September, when airframes in Labuan Bajo are heavily committed. Outside peak months we can often confirm within 48–72 hours. Genuine last-minute requests are sometimes possible, but the earlier we hold aircraft, the more routing choices and better pricing you have.

No operator currently runs scheduled seaplane service on the Bali–Komodo route, and ad hoc seaplane charter here is rare enough that we do not recommend planning around it. The working spine of the bridge is fixed-wing, with rotary at each end.
